Flow is the foundation of the best that we can be, and my latest guest talks about his latest book and research that could explain what makes the “greats” great. Steven Kotler is a New York Times bestselling author, award-winning journalist, and Co-Founder and director of research for the Flow Genome Project. In my interview with with Steven… lets just say, MIND BLOWN. We talk about those athletes and individuals that walk among us who are pushing the boundaries of human performance like Travis Rice, Paul Rodriguez, Kelly Clark, Tiger Woods and even the likes of iconic musicians like Jimi Hendrix.
What is FLOW? In flow, focus heightens incredibly. Action & awareness start to merge, time begins to dilate, performance goes through the roof.. in flow, every action, every decision leads seamlessly to the next… it feels flowy, and thats where the term comes from. He traces his experience with lime disease and surfing into flow state research and one thing led to another and 15 years later he is the head of a research facility.
In his latest book “Rise of Superman” Steven reveals the secret of ultimate human performance. He studies dozens of elite action and adventure sports athletes and the science of “flow”, an optimal state of consciousness in which humans perform and feel their best. Check out my podcast with Steven as he basically flows with me over the course of the 25 minutes, sharing his story, case studies and a glimpse into the science of “flow”.
